Our industry has limitless opportunities and Wood Group PSN has huge ambitions. To achieve these, we have created a global network of award-winning, training and staff development initiatives to provide our customers with the skilled people they need.

Tailored technician training wherever you need it
90% of our people work for us in the country they call home. To develop local talented people to meet our customers' construction, operations and maintenance needs we have formed a technical training alliance with Aberdeen Skills and Enterprise Training Ltd. (ASET). We provide tailored packages to internationally recognised, industry endorsed standards, with experience of 27 countries across five continents.

Nationalisation, nationalisation, nationalisation
Our training and competence programmes underpin each contract nationalisation plan by determining the timescale for transfer of expatriate roles to national employees. We have extensive global experience of providing training and technology transfer to national workforces in diverse areas including Chad, Cameroon, Canada, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Northern Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Egypt.

Process control training in Australia
Our process control training centre in Western Australia supplies hands-on training for supervisory, mechanical and operational personnel. We provide training in process control and telemetry systems and electrical disciplines.

Continuing education in the Gulf of Mexico
At our in-house training centre in Lafayette, Louisiana, we provide operations regulatory safety systems training that complies with statutory requirements for Gulf of Mexico operations.  We take a proactive approach to maintaining a competent and well trained workforce in order to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Courses for every career and life stage
Our unique Wood Group PSN Design Academy takes new entrants to electrical and instrumentation, structural and piping design and gives them the opportunity to achieve a SVQ Level 3 qualification in Drafting and Design through the Modern Apprenticeship initiative.

For graduates, we are the only contractor to have engineer training programmes accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers and Institution of Structural Engineers. Our structural engineers have also co-authored three modules on Aberdeen University’s MSc program in oil and gas structural engineering.

For career changers, our ground-breaking Re-engineer programme is a fast-track conversion course for highly skilled people who would like to take their skills into a new industry and gain recognised qualifications in the process.

Helping people get the most from their careers
The ability to attract and keep great people is a major competitive advantage for Wood Group PSN and is a key reason why we have been able to grow our business so successfully. People who join us tell us that our approach to development and career progression is a key factor in their decision and our collection of awards for people development concurs. Some of the award-winning programmes we offer include competence-based and tailored technician training, which we link in with courses that promote the behaviours essential to embodying our core values.

Our worldwide training programme for office-based employees is, like our technician training, developed and delivered in-house. We have even produced a ground-breaking guide to navigating our network, which gives you advice and first-hand accounts of how to build a career to be proud of with Wood Group PSN.
