The Wood Group PSN Trainee Programme aims to:

  • Accelerate your progression to “Qualified Practitioner” status
  • Get you working during your studies (full-time or part-time)
  • Assist you with your studies, both financially and with on-the-job experience

What is the Designer’s role?
The key role of an Electrical & Instrument, Piping or Structural Designer employed by Wood Group PSN is to provide offshore/onshore construction personnel with the necessary drawings for use on our customers’ installations.

What will the programme involve?
This is a three year modern apprenticeship in your chosen field; three months of intensive ‘academy style design training’; extensive ‘on-the-job’ training; access to specific design trainee development programmes and a SVQ3 in design draughting (awarded by ECITB).

Where will I be based?
We have opportunities in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Runcorn.

Entry requirements
There are three paths into the Wood Group PSN Design Academy:

  • From higher education (minimum HNC in relevant engineering discipline)
  • From trades (higher maths required)
  • With previous experience in a relevant industry related position (higher maths required)

The general competencies we are looking for include:

  • Technical competencies
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to build relationships and work in teams
    Planning, organisational skills and the ability to adapt
